§ 01The brief
The client found his brokerage account almost empty. Positions had been sold over two days and the proceeds sent to a newly linked bank account.
§ 02What I did
- 1.
Got the login history and device records from the brokerage, and showed none of the sessions came from the client's devices or location.
- 2.
Wrote a claim under the brokerage's published account protection guarantee, with a timeline and supporting evidence.
- 3.
Filed the CCS report and a police report, both required for the claim.
§ 03The outcome
The brokerage reimbursed the full $910,000, including restoring the positions that had been sold.
“I thought I would have to take the brokerage to court. He wrote the claim in a way they could not easily say no to.”
